CERTI DIRITTI AL PARLAMENTO EUROPEO IL 17 APRILE

giovedì 17 aprile, a Bruxelles, presso la sede del Parlamento Europeo, il Gruppo Alde, in collaborazione con l’Associazione Radicale Certi Diritti e il Partito Radicale Nonviolento, promuove una importante Conferenza sui diritti delle persone Lgbt. Promotori dell’iniziativa sono i deputati europei Sophie In’t Veld e Marco Cappato. Di seguito la locandina e il programma dei lavori.

ALDE group is holding a Conference on LGBT rights that will take place on the 17th of April, from 9 to 12.30 and from 15 to 18.30, in the EP in Brussels, room 3G3.

The Conference will take place in the framework of the "ALDE 4 Equality" campaign, which the ALDE group is running for the second year in a row, aimed at supporting LGBT equality in the EU through political initiatives, such as participation of ALDE MEPs to LGBT Prides around EU and non-EU member states. The aim of the Conference is to evaluate the current situation of LGBT rights at the national, European and international level, and to find the ways of action to fight homophobia and discrimination, and promote equality.

It will take place right before the season of Equality and LGBT Prides taking place in most European and non-European countries, and in a crucial moment to ensure full implementation and development of EU instruments in the fields of anti-discrimination, asylum and free movement.

The Conference will focus on:
- Gay Prides, LGBT rights and the fundamental freedom of expression and demonstration; - The EU and LGBT Rights: implementation of EU instruments in the fields of freedom of movement and mutual recognition, same-sex marriage, anti-discrimination - including the new announced horizontal directive - and asylum;

- LGBT Rights in the World.
The Conference will launch the ALDE 4 Equality Campaign, and the ALDE delegations to Gay Prides for 2008 that will participate in many Gay Prides in Europe and outside. It will also follow up in studying the feasibility of building up a Liberal and Democratic Network for LGBT rights, so to strengthen political activities in this field.
After the Conference, a film will be screened, showing images from the most problematic Gay Prides and Equality Events of last year, to which also ALDE MEPs took part.
